Our Approach
Global Ties Akron (GTA) strengthens academic, corporate, organizational, and personal ties between Northeast Ohio and the World. Events hosted by GTA throughout the year aim to build mutual understanding of others’ cultures, situations, and beliefs, helping to eliminate negative cultural stereotypes.
Our Know Your Community-Know Your World Story:
Global Education and Citizenship K- Higher Education is a primary objective of GTA. GTA created the Know Your Community-Know Your World initiative to design engaging lessons that explore the globe beyond the textbook. Classrooms travel vicariously through the eyes and experiences of our speakers: international students, refugees, and immigrants who live in our community.

Global Ties Akron has a small dedicated team of staff and volunteers who have a passion for global citizenship, multicultural diversity, education, world languages, peace education, and exploring the cultures in our own community and country and the world.
